Numbers Diary · September 2026

Billie Eilish and Bruno Mars become Monuments, Bad Bunny soars to 36

The month the Hall of Fame moved at every tier.

Twenty-six songs crossed a billion streams on Spotify in September 2026, brought there by thirty-seven different artists. The Billion Club's total rises to 1,395 songs. But the real story this month isn't the count — it's how much the Hall of Fame moved, at nearly every tier of the ladder.

Fourteen first times

Fourteen artists reached their first Billion Song this month — a span running from 1963 to 2025, probably the widest ever seen in a single issue of the Diary. A selection:

  • The Ronettes — Be My Baby (1963, Classic rock, USA) — a romantic plea as a declaration of fidelity: it doesn't just ask for love, it promises loyalty, pride, eternal devotion. The "oldest" song ever to enter the Billion Club.
  • Kylie Minogue — Can't Get You Out of My Head (2001, Classic disco, Australia) — romantic obsession as a permanent condition. You're not just obsessed: you're trapped.
  • t.A.T.u. — All the Things She Said (2002, Synthpop, Russia) — an LGBTQ anthem; discovering identity as crisis and liberation at once.
  • Thirty Seconds to Mars — The Kill (2005, Emo rock, USA) — confronting yourself as an act of liberation, not a physical gesture but a psychological process of transformation.
  • Rise Against — Savior (2008, Hard rock, USA) — codependency as lucid recognition: the problem isn't denied, the truth is told to each other, and that truth leads to separation as an act of love.
  • Lykke Li & The Magician — I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix) (2011, House, Sweden/Belgium) — total devotion as surrender: love isn't declared, you offer yourself completely as a follower.

The Hall of Fame's big jump

If August was a month of quiet entries, September pushed several artists past major thresholds, across nearly every tier of the ladder.

Among the Greats, two new arrivals at the 5 mark: DJ Snake (via his feature on Loco Contigo) and Kali Uchis (with After the Storm).

Among the Icons, just one new entry, but a heavyweight one: Doja Cat reaches 10 with Agora Hills.

Among the Monuments, a double debut in the same month — Billie Eilish (Watch, her twentieth song) and Bruno Mars (Billionaire, also his twentieth). But Bruno Mars doesn't stop there: with a second song entering the same month (Count on Me), he jumps straight to 21, overtaking Billie Eilish in the very same issue where she reached the tier. Meanwhile Justin Bieber climbs to 22 with Daisies.

And among the Legends, Bad Bunny pulls even further ahead of everyone: Veldà is his 36th Billion Song, and he remains the only artist to have reached this tier — further alone at the top than ever.

Genres and borders

This month's most represented genre is pop rap (five songs, nearly a fifth of the total) — from Kanye West to Doja Cat, by way of 50 Cent and Pitbull. But September also looks beyond the United States: the artists involved span DJ Snake's France, t.A.T.u.'s Russia, Lykke Li's Sweden, The Magician's Belgium and Kylie Minogue's Australia — a month that crosses as many continents as decades.
